Team Lead and Lead UX designer managing team of 8 developers and generating all stories, roadmaps, and priorities for software development.

Initial Objectives
Upgrade technical stack of existing GFM application to utilize cloud-based DevSecOps pipeline with improved logging and observability, performance, automated testing, and QA.
Remove vulnerabilities and soon-to-be-deprecated dependencies to ensure future operability.
Rebuild and redesign multiple siloed freight management systems built over 30+ years through multiple contracts to improve usability and maintainability and fix errors.
Solution
Use rebuilding effort as opportunity to improve UX of existing GFM applications via monolithic React front-end utilizing Spring Boot Java microservices to facilitate scalability, reliability, and novel inter-application functionality.
Implement modern and consistent user interfaces and experience using Material UI (MUI) framework.
Engage in "diplomacy-through-design" with government stakeholders to evangelize iterative Agile software development practices with rapid value turnaround and weekly client syncs.
Impact
GFM 1.0 was released in early 2026 on-time and with zero critical defects to unanimous praise from Army-side leadership and application users.
Over 5000 searches are performed every month using the new system for apps that were previously abandoned due to bugs and lack of functionality.
